Tyrnhaw 2012 je síce dávno za nami, ale prečo si ho nepripomenúť zborníkom prednášok, ktoré tam odzneli. Myšlienky v ňom uvedené možno už nebudú úplne aktuálne, ale snáď tento útly zborník poslúži aspoň ako pripomienka v akom stave sa nachádzala HEMA na Slovensku a v Čechách v roku 2012.

This document is a summary of the rules and policies used in the longsword competition run during the TSC & Pugiles Fencing School 's refereeing seminar, on the 4-5. April 2015. The primary goal of the competition is to provide a field for practical training to the students taking part in the seminar.

Turnajove pravidla

Motivácia k organizovaniu turnajov je praktické preverenie šermiarskych zručností športovou formou. Pravidlá majú za cieľ upraviť podmienky priateľského zápolenia tak, aby na porazenie súpera bolo nutné predviesť technické, taktické i fyzické zručnosti a zabezpečiť čo najväčšiu bezpečnosť.

Jedným z hlavných princípov nadradeným formálny pravidlám je princíp fair play.

Pravidlá bude nutné priebežnú upravovať, aby zlepšovali kvalitu šermu a neumožňovali ich zneužívanie spôsobom, aké sa vzďaľujú pôvodnému šermu dlhým mečom.

In order to separate the components of dual combat, to understand their relevance in evaluating fencing performance or the ways safety and different regulations alter the manifestation of fencing theory, it is a great help to include the experiences of contemporary authors in our judgments and preference.

When thinking about creating competitive environment to support the progress of fencing, it should be advised to see romantic legends of old heroes and historical badassery in a realistic light. This might be possible through listening to the suggestions of experts whose everyday life contained inevitable armed affairs, and who wanted to invite threatening armed combat to a safe ground, to get rid of harmful social factors and still keep practicing the noble exercise. This seems to be a very different angle from the modern practitioner's occasional desire to relive those threats through specifically designed fencing matches.

An interesting article, allowing some insight into the debates and approach of the fencing world - and especially the situation of Hungarian sabre fencing sport in the XIX. century.

It appeared as part of the appendix of the book Hungarian Sabre Fencing as Female Physical Exercise by Norbert Sztrakay, 1895, Pátria.

Tyrnhaw 2013 je za nami a na žiadosť viacerých účastníkov zverejňujeme prezentácie z jednotlivých prednášok. Inštruktori boli samozrejme požiadní, aby spracovali svoje príspevky do plnohodnotných článkov, ktoré budú následne publikované v zborníku.

Felső-Eöry Cseresnyés Zoltán's work takes a rather rarely seen, yet precious psychological approach to fencing, and especially, dueling. He aims to provide knowledge that can save the readers from avoidable harm in a - that time often inevitable - duel. As a historical fencer, I have always been seeking to understand the motives and states of mind being present during fights, thus the author's worries about unnecessary risk of severe injuries and suggestions of the appropriate approach immediately drew my attention within this book. Although dueling is much in contrast with competitive fencing both in its motives and goals, I have found the experienced views of Felső-Eöry - beside its great informative value on the reality of dueling - immensely helpful, an invaluable addition at forming opinion about the goals and the psychology of historical fencing tournaments, more over, at defining my own approach and comprehending the mental processes going on during competitive fencing bouts.

Dnešná doba vyžaduje praktické overenie znalostí, ktoré už roky produkuje výskum pôvodného Európskeho šermu. Na popularite získavajú šermiarske turnaje, hoci nedokážu kopírovať podmienky a ciele pôvodného šermu. Uplatňujú sa skôr pravidlá moderných bojových športov. Podľa výsledkov z týchto simulácií prirodzene vyhodnocujeme, aký podiel na výhre či prehre niesli nadrilované techniky. A celkovo, ako prispelo naše teoretické štúdium pôvodného šermu k snahe o prekonanie protivníka. Neraz potom mnohí ostanú zarazení a sklamaní. Očakávali totiž výraznejšiu hegemóniu "školeného šermu". Trúfnem si povedať, že ešte aj v dnešnej dobe neexistujú šermiari, ktorí by vedeli pracovať s Umením šermu efektívne, tak ako si dobový šerm žiada.

Das Ringen im Grublein - dobový zápasnícky šport

Ringen, teda zápasenie, je pojem dobre známy tým, ktorý sa venujú výskumu a rekonštrukcii európskych historických bojových umení. V našej práci vám chceme prezentovať jeho špecifickú podobu, Grübleinringen, ktorá je ešte dnes zahalená rúškom tajomna, najmä z príčiny nedostatku informácií. Pokúsime sa zachytiť podstatu toho športovo-zábavného klania.
